Looking for organic foods in Santa Maria?  I recommend you stop by Lassen’s on South Broadway.  They have a great selection of organic foods.  I don’t think you need to be a food extremist to want to eat organic.  It simplytastes better in my opinion.  It does cost a little more, but you can use that as a great excuse to be mindful about how much food we waste.  Buy what you know you will eat and enjoy it; I guess that is the anti-Costco philosophy.  Lassens also has almost every kind of health supplement you could imagine and what they don’t have they will order for you.  If you have food or cosmetic sensitivties, Lassen’s may indeed stock the soaps, lotions, or gluten free products that you need.  The dairy case includes cage free eggs, unsweetend yogurt and an assortment of cheeses.  While Trader Joe’s, is a great place to begin your organic food shopping, many times I end up at Lassens to complete it.

Since Blockbuster closed its doors, many people are wondering where they can rent a movie in south Santa Maria. I for none did not mourn the loss of Blockbuster. I still remember my favorite little video rental shops being put out of business, and more importantly the late fees! I went out to dinner with friends at the Hitching Post in Casmalia. And despite it being the day after Christmas it was packed. I hadn't been out there in awhile. It is true that we take for granted things that are right here under our noses. The Hitching Post has a national reputation and a rich history here on the Central Coast. For those who don't care to go off the beaten path, you can chow down at the Hitching Post 2, located right off the 101 in Buellton. This was the location the movie Sideways. But, for those with a pioneering spirit, who want the authentic experience will venture out to the abandoned stage coach and railroad outpost known as Casmalia.
