I know the Santa Maria Sun publishes a list of local favorites every year, but because I LOVE sushi so much, I feel qualified to publish my own list of favorite sushi restaurants in Santa Maria. If I were going on a business lunch or going out to dinner I would probably go to Ichiban (805) 614-9808 at 2011 S Broadway (next to Family Health & Fitness) great authentic food, private booths and sushi bar seating available. Also, the hot new favorite is Yanagi Sushi & Grill (805) 937-8882 which opened a location in the Kohl’s shopping center at the corner of Broadway & McCoy. The food is excellent, but if you go for lunch get there early! When I’m in the mood to pick up a to go order or eat at the sushi bar solo, California Sushi & Teriyaki (805) 346-1222 near the corner of Miller & Main is always a good choice. The prices are very reasonable and the selection of lunch specials and specialty rolls is great.
